Damage Prevention
Damage resulting from excavation activity is one of the leading causes of pipeline incidents. The national One-Call number, 811, should be used by anyone who will be excavating. Making a notification to 811 will provide notice to pipeline operators, and other underground facility operators will determine and mark the exact location of a pipeline within the planned digging area.
Know the law and follow these steps:
- Make the call to 811
- Wait the required time in order for the pipelines and other underground facilities to be marked
- Respect the marks
- Take care throughout the excavation process
